Sometimes people think health eating means no flavor. I’m here to tell you that’s so not true! There are many ways to liven up your mundane meals without using salt. Some of us use cooking methods like baking or sauteing with a small amount of healthy “good” oils or chicken broth, or by using a variety of herbs and spices. A great way to do this is with Mrs. Dash salt-free seasoning blends. I add them to my recipes for a boost in flavor for a wonderful result. Mrs. Dash and TwitterMoms want to hear how you make your family meals flavorful and appealing!

Add flavor, not salt!
Mrs. Dash and TwitterMoms are introducing a flavorful blogging program that asks you to share your tips and recipes for “Flavorful Low-Sodium Family Meals.” I think it will be fun to be a part of the Mrs. Dash and TwitterMoms recipe collection. Check out my recipe for Week One of our Mrs. Dash Connection:
Lemon-Chicky-Pepper
Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts sliced in “fingers”
- 2 Tbsp Mrs. Dash Lemon Pepper Seasoning Blend
- 1/2 cup flour
- 3 eggs, lightly beaten with
- 1/3 cup filtered water
- 2 cups Panko bread crumbs
Directions:
Clean and slice chicken breast into “fingers” or thick slices-pound between two pieces of waxed paper to flatten somewhat. Combine Mrs. Dash Lemon Pepper Seasoning Blend and flour in a square glass dish.
Dip the chicken pieces into the above mixture until fully covered, shake excess off-then dip chicken pieces into the egg water mixture-again, shaking to remove excess. Dip the chicken pieces into the Mrs. Dash Lemon Pepper Seasoning Blend and flour mixture again and then dip pieces into a bowl of Panko breadcrumbs-gently shake off excess.
Gently “fry” the chicken pieces in a straight-sided sauté pan cooking chicken about 6 minutes on each side. Let chicken cool a bit while sitting on a piece of paper towel.
