Bake to the Future: Sweet Sally’s Scones

Friday, November 19, 2010

One of my favorite things to do in London is to sip tea and nibble on scones at Harrod’s. But I never think of getting scones in my regular life, probably because every time I’ve had them in the U.S., they just seemed like dry, flavorless versions of their English counterparts. Until, I sank my teeth into Sweet Sally’s moist, flavorful creations…

Based in NYC, Sweet Sally’s Bakeshop whips up all-natural, preservative-free baked goods and sweets—and, the second best part—delivers them right to your doorstep. I’m thinking they’ll make great hostess gifts, plus, really sweet surprises for friends who are under the weather and need a pick-me-up. They come in cute white bakery satchels and aren’t too spendy: just $10 for a package of 6.

Right now I’m all about the uber-seasonal Pumpkin Spice Scones with nutmeg and cinnamon and the Sour Cherry and White Chocolate Scones (see photo). But, I haven’t even tried the Apricot Squares, and something tells me they’d give the scones a run for their money…drop me a line here if you find any new favorites I should try!
