Glass Act: Why Plastic Is So Not the Way to Go

One of the best things about this whole whirlwind writing a book thing is hearing from fellow moms who’ve been following the ten-week plan and written to share their experience with me. Recently I heard from one such reader, who said she ran out and bought two dozen mason jars to replace the plastic tupperware in her kitchen after reading the “Do It in the Kitchen” chapter—and she’s feeling very “virtuous” about it, to use her words. Kudos to you, Laura!
For those of you who haven’t ditched your plastics yet, here’s a quick PSA from yours truly.
Many plastics contain a hormone-disrupting chemical called Bisphenol A (BPA), which leaches into water, food, or whatever it’s holding, and is associated with a host of adverse health effect, from altered brain development and behavioral changes and a predisposition to prostate and breast cancer, to diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease.
