Eat Your Heart Out: The Perfect Valentine’s Gift for Food-Loving Lovebirds
Wednesday, February 1, 2012
Happy February, friends! There are plenty of celebratory days in this late winter month, honoring everyone from our furry friend the groundhog to the less cuddly but still pretty important American president. And let’s not forget the weirdness that is Leap Year…But really, when it’s all said and done, isn’t Valentine’s the only one we really care about?
I know, I know, there are some reasons to bemoan the Hallmark-made holiday, but my take on it is: it’s like a free ticket to eat chocolate all day! That and there’s just a nice fuzzy warm feeling from celebrating love, whether it’s of the romantic variety or not.
So like it or not, I’m going all out this V Day. On the celebration docket: cut food items into heart shapes whenever possible, allow chocolate kisses to overflow from all concave objects in the house, distribute sweet messages via candy to whomever I encounter, and of course, give my main squeeze a gift that lets him know he’s still the one.
My current gift idea for my husband: a new cookbook that’s all about sharing the love of food as newlyweds. Now, recently married we most certainly are not…but I’m hoping maybe I can score brownie points for suggesting that my feelings are as fresh as ever!
The Newlywed Cookbook, by my friend Sarah Copeland, has 130 tempting recipes for more adventurous meals to try together from Date Night to Comfort Food night. With new twists on classic dishes—and gorgeous accompanying photos and pairing beverage ideas to inspire—it’s the perfect Valentine for a fellow food lover.
